Travel away from the coast to the land of wineries and perfectly manicured gardens – Southern Highlands. Particularly in autumn this diverse landscape comes alive with golden colours. Short break from the city and you can enjoy some history, heritage and leisurely pursuit! Situated just 90 minutes from both Sydney and Canberra CBD’s, the Southern Highlands is one of the easiest locations to access for your next private getaway. Autumn is my favorite season by far! With Sydney green all year around I head to Southern Highlands in search of colour.

The property itself is historic and beautiful. Main part of the Milton Park Country House Hotel is the Grand mansion. It represents beautiful architecture of the early century and authentic deco. It was built at the turn of the 20th century by the Hordern Family of retail & pastoral fame. The estate offers breathtaking views to the horizon in every direction over gardens that are arguably Australia’s finest and that have inspired painters and writers since the early 1800’s.
The Milton Park Hotel
Relax around the hotel with multiple guest areas with fireplaces and even a piano! In one of the beautiful heritage buildings on the property of Milton Park Estate you can find an amazing swimming pool. Enjoy the garden view while you swim during the day and at night it gets transformed into a mystical palace. Love be the glass still water!
The gardens of Milton Park are the result of the creative vision of Hordern family that owned the estate from 1910-1960. Although some of the designs have changed throughout the years, it’s the planting program of those years that gives the garden much of its beauty, interest and unique quality. The historic Milton Park gardens are open all year around. Even if you are not staying in the hotel it is a nice experience to come there for a high tea or lunch. They can even organize a picnic in gardens if you so wish!
